Attend Scheduled Skills Session
After completing the HeartCode PALS Online Course and printing the Certificate of Completion, attend the scheduled Skills Session and receive AHA card.

HeartCode PALS Online
The HeartCode PALS Online Course is a comprehensive program that uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. Using eSimulation technology, students can assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students also apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning. The cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students will take a multiple-choice exam and must pass with a minimum score of 84%.

The HeartCode PALS Online Course is a self-paced course is accessible anytime from any computer. This course is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal PALS Provider Course.

After completing the online portion, Students practice and demonstrate their skills with an AHA Instructor.

  • Length: Online average 7.5 hours / Skills Session two (2) hours

  • Student must bring Certificate of Completion from online class

Course Skills Session
Student should review Skills Sheets prior to class:

  • Child CPR with AED Skills Testing

  • Infant CPR Skills Testing

  • Management of respiratory emergencies

  • IO access

  • Must perform as team leader for one cardiac core case testing scenario and one respiratory or shock core case testing scenario

CEUs Available
The American Heart Association is authorized to offer Continuing Medical Education Accreditation to Physicians and Physician Assistants, AANP Credit Acceptance Statement to Nurse Practitioners, Continuing Education Accreditation to Nurses, Continuing Education Accreditation to Pharmacists, Continuing Education Accreditation to Emergency Medical Services for the online portion of course. Credits are claimed on the AHA website but there are time limits of 30 days to 6 months depending on accrediting agency.
